The Supreme Court has HELD and not STAYED the execution.
THey have held the execution until they decide if it should continue. That hold can last minutes or hours. It is not a decision to stop the State Murder of an innocent man.

13. All catholics are against the death penalty...
...at least they are supposed to be due to church decree. They are supposed to be Pro-life, which is one of the things they're very consistent about. They are pro life from fetus to criminal. It's rather refreshing, actually. The consistency, I mean.

18. Well, he doesn't really necessarily have to.
Everyone knows the stance of the Church about the death penalty. But I do like that the Pope made a declaration. He is no John Paul II.

Is cannibalism unconstitutional?

17. Opposition to the death penalty does not depend on individual
cases. Until it is abolished, such things will occur. My opposition is based on sound moral principles, and it will never change. The state should not be in the business of killing people for crimes. It is that simple.

Protesting an individual case is not useful. Georgia will, as it has done so many times before, do what it wishes, whatever the opposition. Until the death penalty is forbidden at the national level, there's little point in protesting individual cases. I oppose this man's execution, whether or not he is guilty of the crime. That is the message I have sent.

19. But the individual cases make people think about the whole
idea of state sanctioned murder.

That's a good thing and can only aid in getting the death penalty abolished.

20. That fact has not changed anything nationally.
It is not sufficient to change the death penalty. That can only be done at the federal level. Talking to Georgia officials is a waste of time. They do not care what you think, and will not change their minds because of what you think. The same is true in several states. We must work toward a permanent national ban on the death penalty. All other efforts do almost nothing, especially in states like Georgia and Texas. Indeed, they only serve to harden the hearts of those in those states who make the decisions. This protest needs to be taken directly to Washington, and must be combined with electing people who will overturn this penalty once and for all.

If you think anyone in Georgia leadership cares, you're woefully incorrect.
