Christopher Taylor was smart but humble and inventive.

The Omaha man, then 20, heard his friends talk about "rolling" a Pizza Hut delivery guy at the Irvington Heights apartments in northwest Omaha.

So out of curiosity, he told detectives, he decided to hang out with two friends and watch the robbery unfold.

He saw Christopher Taylor drive up in his car with the Pizza Hut sign on top. Saw Taylor approach the vacant apartment. Saw two men push the 5-foot-2, 105-pound Taylor inside.

He couldn't see the savage attack — in which a 16-year-old stabbed Taylor twice in the back — but he did see Taylor stumble out and collapse on the sidewalk.

At that, the 20-year-old bolted toward his apartment — walking right past Taylor. He didn't stop. Didn't check on Taylor. Didn't call 911.

FULL story at link.

1. Just sad--sounded like a nice young man. My husband used to

moonlight delivering pizzas on weekend nights when we were younger, lucky this didn't happen to him. I would discourage my kids from doing it, now.

2. A Douglas County sheriff's investigator asked him why. The 20-year-old shrugged.
"He was just a pizza delivery guy," he said, according to sheriff's reports.

THIS, makes it all the more tragic.

5. He thinks the value of a person is based on their position in life
A sociopath or a rethug, and I agree, it can be a learned behavior/attitude.

14. It's a hard concept not to internalize living in the USA..
About ninety percent of our culture is wrapped up around the value of a person being based on their position in life.

Even a large number of our churches teach exactly that, prosperity gospel.

17. Very true and the cause is greed
Churches who teach that wealth is glorious are looking for that 10% tithe.

18. I was once just a pizza delivery guy...
And I've never been more harassed or threatened. I was an armed robbery victim once, but thankfully no violence occurred. It's an extraordinarily dangerous job. Many, many late night deliveries with my pulse pounding.

13. Yes, when I read that on a previous thread about this incident...
it felt like a punch to the gut. "Just" a pizza delivery guy. Makes me sick.

4. Hopefully they charge him the same as his "friends"
since he participated in the crime at the same level as a getaway driver.

7. Wasn't the "witness" an accessory before the fact...
didn't he by not reporting what he overheard actually make this crime possible?
