|
Edited on Thu Sep-22-11 12:42 PM by G_j
https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions#!/petition/investigate-justice-clarence-thomas-conflict-interest-regarding-his-wifes-affiliation-political/FNYt3nyBwe petition the obama administration to: Investigate Justice Clarence Thomas for conflict of Interest regarding his wife's affiliation with political groups. It has been suggested that Clarence Thomas has not recused himself when he should have. We would like to see an investigation into possible conflicts of interest regarding political donations that his wife may have received. Created: Sep 22, 2011 Issues: Government Reform

1. At least investigate him for filing false documents... |
|
Then impeach him on incompetence. Any Supreme Court "Justice" who doesn't understand the instructions of a simple form doesn't belong on any bench...

5. Even if I edit the URL |
|
Even if I edit the URL to https://www.whitehouse.gov/petitions#!/petition/investigate-justice-clarence-thomas-conflict-interest-regarding-his-wifes-affiliation-political/FNYt3nyBI get the following message from my browser: You attempted to reach www.whitehouse.gov, but instead you actually reached a server identifying itself as a248.e.akamai.net. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of www.whitehouse.gov. You should not proceed.

4. Indict Clarence Thomas for six counts of False Statement, 5 USC App. 104. |
|
Conflict of interest is the least of it. The bastard should be (and could be) charged with criminal violations and be in jail awaiting trial. See, http://journals.democraticunderground.com/leveymg/576

6. First, that is a bad link. No such petition would ever be hosted |
|
at whitehouse.gov.
So, we can't sign any petition.
Second, a petition is not going to get action on this. The White House and the Justice Department have already decided not to go in that direction. Personal letters would be more effective, but I can pretty much guarantee that none of this will happen before President Obama's second term, if then. Going after a Supreme Court Justice is a very dangerous political decision, and is unlikely to occur.
If you can find that petition again, try posting a fresh link. I'm sure many will sign it, futile as it is.

10. OK the wwws.whitehouse.gov thing is legitimate. |
|
There are links to it, if you search for "We the People."
The URS is to a Akamai host, and wwws.whitehouse.gov is registered to Akamai. So, it's sort of semi-official. It's a site where you can register, then create petitions and so forth. However, access is extremely slow right now, and a number of the petitions there are, shall I say, pretty unofficial-looking. They are created by individuals, not by anyone connected to the White House.
I'm sure they'll be looked at by someone, but won't carry any more weight than any other internet petition, I think.
Until the site speeds up a little, it's going to be useless anyhow.
Send a letter you've composed yourself by USPS. That will have a larger impact that signing an internet petition, I guarantee.
