Occupy Wall Street
n September 21st, 2011, Troy Davis, an innocent man, was murdered by the state of Georgia. Troy Davis was one of the 99 percent.

Ending capital punishment is our one demand.

On September 21st, 2011, the richest 400 Americans owned more wealth than half of the country's population.

Ending wealth inequality is our one demand.

On September 21st, 2011, four of our members were arrested on baseless charges.

Ending police intimidation is our one demand.

This is why the OCCUPYWALLSTREET effort has been so unsuccessful: this list is bloated (however you feel about Capital Punishment, a movement that came together to target "Wall Street" and the financial industry shouldn't be blending this in with their economic points, much less posting it first) and so vague as to be meaningless platitude ("ending wealth inequality" means...what? Confiscation? A more progressive tax policy? Socialism?). Sadly, this isn't Tahrir Square, it's Lafeyette Square: the sort of people who camp out in front of the White House year after year with signs advocating vaguely progressive principles that nobody pays attention to. If OCCUPYWALLSTREET wants to be taken seriously, pick ONE primary and two secondary issues to focus on, and come up with SPECIFIC policies to demand for each.
