Solyndra
I don't care if you are Right, Left, Middle or Orange.

There is something very wrong in this deal.

I am mad I have to pay for that loan.

5. Into the same black hole, created by the '08 Derivative Crash, that's pulling everything else in.
Estimates of the total amount lost range from $10-$500 trillion - private information so it's hard to know for certain - there's been a lot of paper up in the air ever since, so that half billion just turned into cheese in internecine private, and also international, banking mazes, resulting ultimately in some of that paper being pulled down out of limbo, some of it used to blow some dirty noses, while other contracts got promoted to situations that CYA -ed on (domestic and/or international) debt to asset ratios . . .

. . . or something like that, anyway.

9. And, of course, ALL of that is private information, inside of private information, inside of private
information, inside of private information, inside of . . . .

Infinitely un-traceable, even with some whistle-blowers, that is, unless, PO sets aside the entire body of U.S. private business contract law and just nationalizes the fuckers.

I am so tired of this crap... I know we have to help those poor wall street bankers, but GEEZ.

I am so tired of all this crap.. It would different if it was McCain, but I do not think he would have had to gall to do all this.

After I realized that closing Gitmo, rolling back the Patriot Act, getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan were just campaign promises and not to be believed, But God all the handouts.

16. The Phony Solyndra Solar Scandal
Well here's a surprise: conservatives and oil interests are pushing deceptive and destructive stories about President Obama and clean energy. Imagine that! Their intent (as always) is to turn people against President Obama, clean energy, national energy policy, stimulus to help the economy, and government in general. It's what they do. Here is some information to help you push back on the latest whipped-up, anti-green, anti-government, anti-Obama "scandal."

Solyndra was a startup solar-power equipment manufacturer based in Fremont, California that went bankrupt at the end of August. The company's solar collectors used a special tubular internal design that let it collect light from all directions, and were made with a copper-indium-gallium-diselenide (CIGS) thin film that avoided using then-expensive silicon. It was one of several companies that received assistance from the government, in an attempt to push back on China's strategic targeting of green-energy manufacturing.

The company, partly backed by the conservative Walton family had received a loan guarantee from the Department of Energy. The loan, which was originally pushed by the Bush administration, was 1.3% of the DOE portfolio.

The economy tanked and cut demand, and at the same time Solyndra could not compete with subsidized companies located in China as they rapidly scaled up. So Solyndra ran out of money. Conservatives and oil interests are using the bankruptcy as a platform to attack green energy and the idea of green jobs in general, solar power in particular, President Obama as always, stimulus funding and the idea of developing a national strategic industrial policy to push back on China and others who have their own national policies to win this key industry of the future.

18. Yep. I started seeing some of their operatives around this board months ago, pushing info sources
with heavy Pacific Rim support and trying to destroy environmental science. I pointed out to one of the posters that the countries advertising on his source are HEAVY into alternative energy technology development and have NO love of competition from the U.S., because we REALLY COULD fuck them up at a VERY bad time. He didn't seem to care.

8. He most likely wouldn't.
The DOE under the current president should have a very good idea because they approved the loan. Bush did a lot of bad things, but this is not one of them.

I'm pretty pissed off about this. The loan was pushed through before DOE was done with their diligence. That is inexcusable - heads should roll.

25. The Chinese are the reason Solyndra went under.
Solar panels are a commodity and we compete on price. Like everything else, the Chinese are taking market share away from US producers. That is what sunk Solyndra.

22. With the two top guys (CEO and CFO) taking the fifth doesn't bode
well for the administration; however, was this a set-up deal by the oil/gas/coal industry to put the kibosh on alternative energy and at the same time make the WH look bad? Will we ever know?

28. Look At Who Was Doing The Questioning...
One of the inquisitors was Joe Barton...the same sleezeball who appologized to fast Tony and his BP cronies when they were hauled up to testify last year.

Of course this is a set up...political theater. They were asked questions that would have led to them incriminating themselves...the essence of what the fifth ammendment was designed for. It's a shame that when someone invokes it its automatically assumed they're criminals or guilty of hiding something.
