I know this marriage thing is new to my gay friends, but please.... |
|
Rule #1...DON'T SCHEDULE YOUR MARRIAGE DURING FOOTBALL SATURDAYS!
Oh well, you'll learn. Good luck Jose and Nick (even if you are making me miss my game today).

However, I know there is a segment here with no sense of humor and/or over-sensitive, or maybe they don't like college football. :)

12. Don't care for college football but I do... |
|
get the whole football thing.
My family all know...do NOT plan an event on a Sunday if you expect my presence. Don't visit, don't call (well, not during my team's game, anyway...hee hee).

I'm pretty sure the original poster doesn't ACTUALLY think that two people should schedule their wedding around his football viewing schedule. There are four letters here: J-O-K-E.

19. I'm sarcastic all the time, and I never use the smiley, b/c it kills the funny. |
|
Saying, "I'm being sarcastic" really kills the humor. It's not funny anymore after that.

20. Yeah, in some cases it's like |
|
saying, "Hey...you wanna hear a joke?"
It kills the moment.
I hate when people do that. Then I feel like I'm obligated to laugh even if it wasn't funny.
I like when people spring jokes on me without warning.

4. As a gay man I say no....what you don't do is schedule your wedding to conflict with a new episode.. |
|
of Glee.
Yes I know I'm reinforcing stereotypes (or am I being iconoclastic and breaking the new stereotype that most gay men love sports?).
But I'm really just playing. Best wishes to Jose and Nick, and the fact that gay marriages are happening gives this old queer a lot of hope.

28. Trust me, straight people can be stupid on this too. |
|
A dumbass old friend of mine scheduled his evening wedding to overlap Game 3 of last years World Series. Being Giants fans, and living where I do, that just wasn't going to work.
About 20 of his guests cancelled because of the conflict. Of those who attended (about 80), most of us spent half the reception huddled over our smartphones following the game...including the FATHER OF THE BRIDE. The best man even made a crack about it during his toast, asking for the attention "of those here for the wedding." Those here to "watch the game" were invited to continue on about their buisiness...and were asked to keep him updated if anyone scored.
The bride was NOT amused. Or happy.
Scheduling a wedding to conflict with a major cultural event is just asking for trouble.
