15. OK. Thanks. I called. They are burying calls in bureaucratic bullshit.
Call this # . Call that #. Blah, Blah Blah.

I work for this idiot so I know what they're up to.

A better strategy, it seems to me, would be to complain to a media outlet. Understand: I realize Bloomberg and people like him OWN the major media outlets here. Nonetheless, you might be able to slip something thru to the Daily News, or the Times... though I don't know for sure if either is covering the revolt.

17. NO network is covering it, except a quick blurb at end of news hour.
which is something that KO talked about the other night.

THIS site is a good one, for starters.

9. They were peacefully marching around the area of Union Square
when they got to square, some of the protesters decided to march to the UN. They were afraid that the police were trying to confine to the Square. First, the police arrested their media team so the livestream went off. At that point people were reporting that they were conducting mass arrests.

As far as we know now, they arrested over 100 people, including two members of the media team who were simply filming the march.

People got video of the arrests though, on their cell phones and they have been posted on utube, some of them. Dixiegirrrrl posted a link to them in my thread.

All week they have been arresting people. But today, the police became pretty violent, pushing people around, before arresting them. This is the second time this week they arrested members of the livestream team. Now they are telling them they cannot have an umbrella protecting the equipment. During the week they dismantled their projector, claiming it was 'blocking the view'.

I don't know why they are doing this as there was no disturbance, I was watching the livestream when it began. And all they are doing is getting more support for them.

3. Isn't the point of (some) protesting to get arrested?
It's a way of getting attention for your cause. It's called civil disobedience. I don't know why these people were arrested. But if they were breaking a local law or ordinance, I'm not going to call. I'm sure they're not being sent to the Bastille to rot. More like Daryl Hannah, who was released within an hour and had to pay $100, then talked about how she had to "sacrifice her freedom."

5. See this:
Olbermann's report that some were arrested under a 100 year old law for wearing "face masks"

http://ampedstatus.org/olbermann-calls-out-mainstream-media-for-media-blackout-of-wall-street-occupation-video/

one guy was arrested for writing "peace" on the sidewalk with chalk.
innocent tourists were arrested.
when it rained, people were told they could not use their umbrellas.
journalists and people filming the protests were arrested.
There were mass arrests of EVERYONE on a block, no matter what they were doing or not doing.

Need proof?

13. These arrests date from several days ago...
Arrests today were in conjunction with a mark up to Union Square. From the video I've seen, it appears some of the protesters were marching in the street and blocking traffic.

14. Since the M$M is ignoring this, social media is the only outlet
for now. I wish I was more savvy with the new v.2 internetz, but I'm learning. This needs to go viral, and quickly while there is some momentum.

16. I just called that number, but it was not the right one, it was a
Bloomberg business number. They gave me another one 212-788-3000. I called that, got a stupid recorded message, then got directed to a guy who sounded like a machine. I asked 'is this the mayor's office. He said 'not exactly. Did you have a message for the Mayor'. I said, yes. He then said something about taking down info, asked for my name, phone # etc. Then he asked what the message was, I told him. A few more minutes went by as he wrote it down, I guess. Said he was some kind of service. Then came back and said 'I'm sorry, we cannot take any more messages for the Mayor right now' I asked 'why not'? He said you can write to the Mayor at City Hall etc. etc.

I guess Bloomberg has outsourced his phone service to some private corp. So iow, you cannot get directly through to the king on the phone. And this guy said he couldn't pass the message along. Wish he would not have wasted my time and told me that to begin with.
