Just checking, because I don't hear anyone talking about it anymore.

I DO, however, hear people talking about his ideas and proposals that were in the speech.

1. only insofar as I consider it another failure on his part to stand up to the GOP
but I haven't been dwelling on it, per se.

7. Hey, I get it now
You want a Mr. T, who can stand up to the Republicans and say:

To Mitch Connell: If I ever catch you acting like a crazy fool again, you're gonna meet my friend -- pain!

To John Boehner: You makin' me mad, sucker.

To Michele Bachmann: I'm on a real short leash here, and I'm tired of your crazy rap!

To Paul Ryan: I got no time for the jibba-jabba.

To Ron Paul: I pity the fool!

Would that satisfy your idea of how a strong, black president would stand up to the GOP? Just wondering.

9. the color of the person's skin is irrelevant.
I would like to see a progressive candidate not turn to milquetoast at the slightest hint of GOP aggression.

2. Unfortunately, nothing that he proposed seems even close to passing.
The speech 'kerfluffle' was just another in long running attempts at kneecapping Obama. None of these has a long half life, but there will always be new 'bad spins' on whatever Obama says or does, by those who don't want him re-elected.

Obama speaking at 4 pm west coast time was hardly optimal, but the Dems did get the commercials that are running now from that speech.

4. as trivial as it is, my major concern this PM is the continuing collapse of the Red Sox!
What can I say...die hard fan since 1967. And this feeling is all too familiar!

As far as the kerfuffle you mention, this country and media can't hold a thought in its head for more than 5 minutes....so I don't expect any sort of anything to have lasting impacts or depth at all, these days.

5. The Red Sox can't play the loveable losers victim card anymore
Those days are over.

I for one am tired of having to see them every October.

And before you say it, yes, that goes for the Yankees too.

8. I do care. I believe it was an insultive disrespectful attempt to undermine Obama
Edited on Sat Sep-24-11 05:53 PM by Evergreen Emerald
It still stings when I think about it. They (you know who "they" are) have been attempting to publicly undermine him since he took office, engaging in behavior that, had any democrat acted towards Bush, they would have been forced to resign. And if not resign, the public outcry would immediately have stopped the obvious, blatant disrespect.

For example: walking out on negotiations, refusing invitations to the White House, refusing to attend his speech, heckling him from the floor of the Senate during his State of the Union address, calling him a liar, going overseas and dissing him...I could go on and on.

It is ugly, constant, and should not be tolerated.

11. That was the inauguration
If there is a second Obama inauguration I doubt he will be so tone deaf next time.
