Can someone explain the subscriber option on Facebook? |
|
Why is everyone asking for us to uncheck their Subscriber comments section? Can't you block everything out by saying that only friends can have access?

1. I think they're referring to the new thing where every comment you make |
|
shows up in that stupid scrolling sidebar on the right - and it could be COMPLETELY out of context.
I find the right sidebar thing very creepy. I haven't thought to ask my friends to unsubscribe from my comments. It would be nice if we each had the option to NOT publish comments and likes to the sidebar, but as far as I know, that isn't the case.
FB has so creeped me out with the latest changes that I'm not even wanting to use it any more. I guess some other people are having similar reactions.

2. this doesn't have anything to do with newsfeed, right? |
|
From what I read, Zuckerman is trying to imitate the subscribe feature on twitter where anyone who wants to subscribe can get access to your twittering tweets. If you do nothing, then nothing changes. You have to activate the subscribe feature before this intrusion begins. Which is why I don't understand why everyone is asking their friends to d-list them.

4. I'm taking a look at Google+ |
|
It's clean, and you can group multiple feeds (friends, family, acquaintances, etc)
And the best part is, I don't have a whole lot of "friends" using it.
Polluted feeds were my biggest complaint before Facebook put a Facebook in my Facebook so I can Facebook while I Facebook.

6. Frankly, I never understood why people allow their number of friends |
|
to go above a certain number. You should only have feeds from people you want to keep in touch with.

7. With FB's latest "improvement," pictures have disappeared |
|
entirely from my screen. The touted "bigger pictures" are good-sized empty boxes, totally devoid of visual content -- so it doesn't take me long now to "do Facebook" in the morning.
I hear tell there's a new massive re-design of FB coming down the pike. I'm hoping this will result in an entirely blank screen.

But these days, we get screwed even when we pay for something. This way, it almost feels like I'm coming ahead.

8. FB has jumped the complexity shark |
|
Simple was good. Complex sucks.
Luv the barnyard analogy -- as all subscribers are MILKED for Marketing Data by FB
