Hope...has two beautiful daughters...
Edited on Sun Sep-25-11 11:09 AM by nashville_brook
Anger and Courage.

Anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are. -- St. Augustine

_________________________

That's the problem with hope, it doesn't come alone. Hope brings it's family along. When hope is raised, so are expectations.

We expected change.

Instead they came for our homes, our jobs and our money.

We expected that a new regime would fight for us. Instead, we're finding power in our voice.

We expected that the obvious source of our nation's pain would be brought to account. Instead our accounts were emptied into theirs.

We expected all these things because Hope was exploited.

And so now it's up to Hope's still small children.

Anger.

And Courage.

Our only hope is ourselves.

this should NOT be happening in our country, much less a savvy city like NYC! This is the type of crap you're expect from red neck small town cops, not New York's Finest.

41. Is this the reason the protest is not being reported?
Cops out of control, throwing people to the ground, spraying mace. Dangerous for reporters?

America, where are you now? Don't you care about your sons and daughters?

20. Two Tea Partiers in lawn chairs waving gimme flags = "Concerned Americans!"

Thousands of angry, articulate, disenfranchised protestors addressing the heart of America's biggest problems = a footnote about who was arrested.

In other words, anything smacking vaguely of the left is Just Another Protest by Those Hippie People, Tying Up Traffic The Way They Do, Until We Start Gassing Them.

Insane, racist, ignoramuses issuing veiled threats of armed insurrection, babbling nonsensically about their taxes being too high, however, qualify as Regular People Fed Up With The System.

It's just completely nuts.

They arrested a CBS reporter and held him for nine hours, btw. I do not know if the man in the photo is from the Occupywallstreet media team, or the CBS reporter.

Disgraceful behavior on the part of a police force clearly on the side of Wall St. At least their leadership is. Ray Kelly and Bloomberg.

Edited on Sun Sep-25-11 11:44 PM by UrbScotty
Obama = President of the United States (i.e. federal government).

NYPD = part of local government.

Presidents do not have dictatorial powers over local police units.

Thankfully, the vast majority of us liberal Democrats approve of the job he is doing. Polls show that Obama's approval rating rises as you go more and more liberal in demographics.

I am proud to stand with these protestors and with our President!

Why should we resist at all? Why not give in to cynicism and despair? Why not carve out as comfortable a niche as possible within the embrace of the corporate state and spend our lives attempting to satiate our private needs? The power elite, including most of those who graduate from our top universities and our liberal and intellectual classes, have sold out for personal comfort. Why not us?

79. the problem with US-style (Chicago) capitalism is that we never thought
it would be used against us the same way we used it against the rest of the world. now we see that's not true. the Shock Doctrine has come home...and it actually could be too late to stop the bleeding.
