Herman Cain's straw poll win in Florida only highlights rethug racism |
|
Sounds odd to say this, but I believe it's true. For starters, Herman Cain is nowhere remotely qualified to serve as President. Rethugs attacked Obama because of his 'lack of experience' - yet they go and find themselves a black rethug whose claim to fame is making pizza and occasionally filling in for Neil Boortz on his radio show. Does anyone think that if Herman Cain were white, the rethugs would be paying any attention to him? African-American rethugs are very few and far between, so rethugs tend to gravitate towards them and heavily promote them. It's really no different than someone with a Confederate flag flying in their yard with a "The South will Rise Again" bumper sticker proclaiming they're not racist because they have a black friend. In their desire to disguise their racist policies and views, they support conservative African-Americans with very marginal qualifications (JC Watts, Alan Keyes) or those with questionable backgrounds (Clarence Thomas).
I'm sure that if OJ Simpson were to come out and start publicly bashing Obama, they'd rally around him as well.

What if Caine were to win as the GOP presidential candidate - wouldn't that be a hoot! I wonder how many Republicans/conservatives who claim they are not racist would come out and vote for him? I think that would be poetic justice - their little trick backfiring on them.

3. Oh, how they would try to get someone to run 3rd party |
|
I could imagine someone like Perry running as a 3rd party, independent candidate. I can't imagine most rethugs having to decide between two black candidates for president - must be their worst nightmare.

6. It wouldn't surprise me, the GOP is TERRIBLE choosing presidential candidates |
|
Hence, McCain/Palin. They scream and shout from the sidelines then go and nominate the biggest idiot they could find in every election.

4. They think that all black people are the same - to them, we're fungible |
|
That's why they jumped to put Michael Steele in as chair of the RNC - they figured the Democrats had a black guy, so THEY were going to get a black guy. It never occurred to them that Barack Obama isn't just some "black guy" - he's an exceptional man who is black.
They're doing the same thing with Herman Cain. They really seem to believe that pretending they support a black guy will show people that they aren't bigots. And, moreover, they think that "their" black guy is the equivalent of "our" black guy notwithstanding the fact that the ONLY thing that Herman Cain has in common with Barack Obama is skin color, period.

5. Good points about Cain and Keyes |
|
But if I recall correctly, we had the Revs. Jackson and Sharpton who thought that the presidency was an entry level political job, too.

7. I disagree - the vote was orchestrated |
|
to destroy Romney and to give the impression that they are not racist when they attack Obama because Cain won the straw poll in Florida. I wonder what they paid the fools who voted for him.

9. I'd like to agree with you but.... |

Republicans pick unqualified candidates regardless of race all of the time(i.e. Heckava Job Michael Brown).
OTOH it is no secret that their conscious or subconscious projection and self fulfilling prophecy is nearly always in effect. They say that government doesn't work and by golly whenever they are in charge sure as poop stinks, government does not work. The same goes for affirmative action. When they implement it they always promote some under qualified candidate such as Clarence Thomas.
