studies say most teachers now have only 1 to 2 years experience
that gave me a "no shit sherlock" moment because the study tried to blame the exodus of teachers on baby boomers retiring instead of laying the blame directly at the feet of the union busters, the charter schools and the demonization of teachers in general.

Study is listed on the Microsoft System Network home page.

What could they expect after the last 8 years of teaching to tests instead of teaching to individuals?

1. Foster intolerable working conditions, pay lousy wages
And damn if you no longer get the sort of longevity we used to see out of teachers. Buncha goddam ingrates, that's what they are! Crummy jobs with crappy wages, where's their dedication?!

Of course, we need to pay corporate CEOs zillions every year, or the poor dears will deprive us of the benefit of their business acumen. It's all about priorities, and one of our priorities is to make sure that teachers are taxed at a higher rate than those zillionaire captains of industry.

2. The easiest way to shut down a program
is to break it first. Shutting down a successful program requires justification. A broken program provides its own justification.

3. >half have 2years or less experience? Not a chance.
We've had at least two years of virtually no hiring in most counties. There's no way that a majority of teachers were hired during that period.

4. The current norm is that a teacher, fresh out of college,
Will leave the field within five years. Too much testing, too much parental madness, too much administrative insanity, for too little pay.

6. They say the first year is the hardest
And I think the first year might be the hardest. I'll never know. I never taught the second year.
