An 11-year-old girl in Indiana accidentally shot her 14-year-old sister in the head with a shotgun while "playing CSI," authorities said Sunday.

The incident occurred Saturday morning while the two siblings were home alone, according to the Logansport Pharos-Tribune.

The older sibling survived and is hospitalized, but her condition was not released.

Authorities are still investigating exactly what happened, but told the newspaper they don't believe the shooting was intentional.

The 11-year-old told police she was mimicking the crime scene investigation TV series when the gun went off.

1. Actually, she ended up with some pellets in her head, not a bullet.

Stupid to put the shotgun where a child could reach it.

Had it been a bullet, she'd likely be dead. She was probably at the edge of the spray of shot and only got some of the pellets.

Granted, I haven't watched that program in years, but as I remember the CSI people didn't show up to a crime scene with guns, but scientific instruments. Hmmm.

4. I suppose that shotgun loaded itself and went out so the girls

could find it, then. Hell...I unload my home protection shotgun anytime there are children in the house of whatever age. The shells go in the lockbox until they're gone, and the shotgun is locked in the closet where I keep it. No children around? It's loaded and available. How simple is that?
