Sorry, but Christie is no more electable than any of the other right wing loons
Edited on Tue Sep-27-11 06:46 AM by Atman
People don't really know him, they're just being TOLD he's awesome. In truth, he has more skeletons than Wal Mart in October, and he is physically incapable of doing the job. You think Perry's immigration stance freaked out the righties? Wait until they see all the video of Christie's speeches. The tea baggers will harpoon the guy. Plus, he is a mean, nasty man. The GOP media is now treating him just like they treated Sarah, Michelle and Rick before they all imploded, like some sort of great white wha...er, hope for the party, but he's no different; he's another unelectable nut job and even his own state's people hate him. Once he gets in it, he'll crash like the Hindenburg, just as the rest of the GOP field has.

1. my call is that they're going to pull out Jeb Bush
once they're set up and knocked down a few patsies like Perry, Christie, et. al.

7. You might be right, there--they'd have to reunite him with his wife, though.
I don't think they're hanging out much together, these days. She could be the wild card (and not in a good way for him).

Also, he's got a lot of baggage, family-wise--and that's before we even discuss his idiot brother(s). The best of his lot is his son, George P--he only tore up his girlfriend's father's lawn with his SUV whilst drunk. He's since married, gone to law school and has some fancy, unearned job.

The other kids have much more interesting rap sheets; the daughter for drugs, and the younger son for banging his girlfriend in his car in the KMART parking lot, and spitting on a cop whilst drunk in college.

10. yeah, he's got plenty of skeletons, but if they could whitewash Dim Son's past
they could probably do it for the older Dim One.

But yeah, overall I agree with you.

14. I keep thinking they are going to end up settling for Huntsman after all is said and done.
He's kind of scary because he's unknown. The idiots in the mushy middle who only vote every four years might like his looks, his tan, his head of hair, and his motorcycle...and not pay attention to policy.

If that happened, Romney would be blubbering, because he's the one who has spent millions trying to get America used to a Mormon candidate.

2. He's unelectable because he doesn't want to do it. He knows it will end badly.
He realizes, I think, that he's Fat Bastard come to life, and his appeal is both brief and limited.

People love acerbic, angry, snarky, blunt people when they want to hear what they perceive as essential truths. However, in the office of President, we prefer people who don't make us look like a nation of crazies. Really--no one likes an Ahmadinejad-type leader; it makes us all look bad!

6. And if he does badly, doesn't get elected, this damages his re-election
prospects in NJ as voters generally like winners.

4. You'd never know it from the way he's being touted in the corporate media
Guess he's the flavor of the moment, albeit a greasy flavor.

5. Actually, his worst problem is not his health, nor is it his attitude, shitty as it is.
His biggest problem is that he is not the conservative maniac they're looking for and he has already made comments disparaging of the teabaggers who claim that Obama is a muslim attempting to enact Sharia law. Once they find that out, he'll be nothing but a meaner version of Romney.

12. I agree. Living here in NY,
I get treated to some of the press conferences and such that Christie does.

He is a conservative ass, but he isn't the foaming at the mouth crazy that they seem to favor these days.

13. Agree
the far right may like his "take no prisoners" attitude, bu not what sometimes he says in that in your face way of his. His recent comments about the muslim judge he appointed were actually quite impressive and he deserves respect for that. He definitely has WAY more brains than Perry and more character (in the sense that he seems to actually say and do what he believes, whether it's political advatageous or not) than Romney. His health may be an issue, I don't know. He is very heavy and this may have caused some problems that we do not know about but he does. We'll see...

15. This always happens. Like hunters beating the bushes to see what animals they can drive out...
the media looks around for more interesting candidates. 4 years ago at this time they were trying to find a challenger to Hillary.
