Weight Watchers called ... they want their shtick back. |
|
Chris Christie is fat ... deal with it. Ron Christie is cross-eyed. Roger Ailes is bald. Ann Coulter is skinny. I have what have been called "bird legs". These are all visible physical characteristics. If any of those descriptors happen to be appended to a term such as "asshole", "dipshit", "bastard", or a host of other less-than-complimentary appellations ... well, there it is. It doesn't make them untrue. If you are offended by a simple, observable fact, perhaps the problem is your's. (And my wife loves my legs, so I don't really give a shit when someone points out that they're circumferentially challenged. I would commend that same attitude to some of my DU brothers and sisters.)

3. Everyone has a physical feature that is noticed |

I'm a redhead. Have I been teased mercilessly about it? Yes. I also wore glasses when I was young. "Four eyes" is what I was called.
Now that I am 59 and still receive comments from strangers about my hair, I accept it as something about me that people notice. I like it that color, I'm not going to change it.
Good post!

4. It just makes me question your intelligence and dismiss your views |
|
Based on my personal experiences, the people who resort to that (i.e. Michael Moore is fat) are uneducated idiots who I have no desire to even entertain. Typically, people resort to that crap when they are incapable of carrying on a intelligent conversation.
But, to each their own. I will just choose to listen to those slightly more educated.

7. As I said, perhaps the issue is yours. Dismiss away. |

And I won't bore you with my curriculum vitae, but with a couple of degrees, I consider myself relatively well educated. (Probably nothing approaching your genius, but I don't move my lips when I read.)

I got called Dumbo as a kid and Joe Mechanic as a 12 year old girl (that was real good for my self esteem- I think the boys were jealous of my muscles, as I was a swimmer). When I grew into my body, those comments meant very little, except that they told me who to steer clear of.

17. I have posted before that some young sprites need to follow Christie Kreme around in lab jackets |
|
and regularly ask him about his health.
I guarantee you that NJ taxpayers are paying for higher life insurance for the Gov because of his weight - just like we are paying a bit more for Obama's smoking. Executives are underwritten too.

Not a one of those is being used as a simple physical descriptor. They're being used in the same way that racial epithets and mysogynistic japes are used, so you can poke the guy next to you in the ribs and say "Let's ostracize this person together and feel superior not only because we don't like his ideas bu because we can hurt him by doing it."
