by: Mike Ludwig, Truthout | Report

Wall Street has given $41 million in campaign contributions to the members of the Congressional "supercommittee" charged with finding $1.5 trillion worth of deficit reduction measures, according to a report released today by two watchdog groups.

The finance, insurance and real estate sector spent $3.7 billion on lobbying and campaign contributions from 1999 to 2008, according to the report, and the 12 members of the bipartisan Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction have all reaped the benefits.

2. Misleading in Kerry's care
It includes the period when he was running fort president, so obviously he got lots of donations, from Wall St. and elsewhere.

5. This really serves to discredit any suggestions which the Supercommittee sets forth, IMO.

6. They should have to give it all back before they embark on
what now can be viewed as NOT the people's business. Shameful, and this is the main message of Occupywallstreet, to get the money that is poisoning the political process out of our government.

All such money should be called what it is from now on, bribery.

9. EXTREMELY misleading presentation by Ludwig. He makes Dems sound worse and more corrupt by making
AMOUNT of money as the reason to blame. Kerry was a presidential candidate which adds millions from ALL sectors into his cumulative account. That Kyl is so close to a Dem who also ran for president should be alarming especially since HE carries the water for the fascist elite. Kerry doesn't.
