Holy crap - Joanne Kloppenburg called me
You folks don't know me, I used to post a fair amount some years ago in the first Bushco term. I helped run verifiedvoting.org in 2003. I read the site these days in order to keep up, but I don't post any longer as I'm so busy with work. Just wanted to say hello a moment.

I'm so accustomed to being called and harrassed for donations these days, typically by 3rd-party fundraising organizations, I can't begin to tell you my stunning surprise when I answered my phone today. It was Joanne Kloppenburg personally calling to thank donors who supported her campaign for Judge.

We visited, talked about her campaign, and she told me she is counting on her supporters to help her raise sufficient presence in her campaign so as to discourage others from entering the fray. I also tried to encourage her to look more closely at BBV and how elections are manipulated.

Anyhow, it was absolutly shocking to hear from a candidate personally. What a breath of fresh air. And no, I am not a shill for someone, just sharing my surprise and a link to her site.

Peace.

1. Impressive.
Not very often you get to talk to the actual person.

2. no kidding.
I live in Siskiyou County, northern end of California, and the closest I get to my puke Congressman Herger is when his robo service invites me to a conference all "town meeting". And the moment I say a word I'll get carved out of the call.

4. Peace back at you! And how refreshing--a real candidate on the phone!
That's how it was done back in the day!

5. Very nice!
Heck, I was impressed to get a thankyou card with a handwritten note for my measly 25-buck contribution to a Dem candidate in another district. (It was for John Katz, who ran against Darrell Issa in CA.)

That's a nice touch for Kloppenburg--and even more surprising that she took the trouble to call an out-of-state supporter. Good for her!

And thanks for posting.

6. Congressman McNerney has called me twice I think.
He's in a neighboring district but he likes to call next door 'cause he figure's that's where the money is (not to mention lots of liberals).
