Released Hiker: Iranian Guards Compared Prison Conditions To Guantanamo Bay

http://www.mediaite.com/online/released-hiker-iranian-guards-compared-tehran-prison-condictions-to-guantanamo-bay/

Up until last week, Americans Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal had been held in an Iranian prison since July 2009, when reports say they accidentally crossed an unmarked border during a hiking trip in Iraqi Kurdistan. The two arrived back in the United States and made clear that they saw their 781 days in captivity as nothing more than the symptom of spiteful diplomatic relations between Iran and the U.S. According to Bauer, whenever they complained about conditions, the Iranian guards “immediately remind us of comparable conditions at Guantanamo Bay,” adding “They would remind us of CIA prisons in other parts of the world.”

The hikers shared no sympathy for their former captors, but their inclusion of Guantanamo Bay in their remarks have raised some eyebrows on some right-of-center outlets who claim Bauer’s comments were somehow “railing” against U.S. holding detainees against their will.

2. Ohh... the irony that pours out of a glib reporter's keyboard...
"one country ginned up phony espionage charges to use him and his companions as political pawns - that's Iran - and the other country doesn't imprison critics because of what they say or use violence to quell dissent."
