What is the deal with all of these flag waving assholes declaring their hatred for the government? What do they think that flag represents??? America is the Government. Hating our Government is hating America - hating the United States of America. So to me waving the Flag while hating what it stands for is like being anti-Semitic but wearing a Star of David because you think it's pretty. At least when these knuckle heads wave their confederate Flags it's honest to who they really are.

1. Same for anti gun nuts. The right to bare arms is also part of this country. |
|
The hypocrisy runs amuck on both sides.

4. People need to separate hand guns from long guns. |
|
It is the hand guns that are the problem.

5. I do. All my long guns are hanging on the wall. Handguns stashed around the house. |

6. Guns have changed since the 2nd Amendment. I support it, but it's not 1776 anymore. |
|
When it was written you had to put a round ball in the front of the gun, push it down with a muzzle-loader, sprinkle gun-powder, cock it then fire 1 round. Then repeat.

Repeating firearms other than fully automatic are of no consequence. Example: most carried more than one firearm in the wad and ball days.

That government should run government, but government should not run lives. They "hate" the latter.
And that since government has gotten so far away from our nations founding principles and now tries to run our lives, that it is possible to hate the what government has become but still love the country. That their love of country is why they fight.
All you have to do is talk to them. Doesn't matter if you agree or disagree with them, at least you would know the truth, which is always better than stereotypical generalizations.

run that by me again how they "hate that government runs lives"...you mean like wanting a constitutional amendment to define marriage as one man/one woman??? Or the big stink about where or not where to build a Mosque??? Or if workers have the right to unionize??? They love it when government runs lives the way they want it! They fight so they don't have to accept people of different beliefs and cultures.

13. So, how many have you spoken to |
|
in order to come to that conclusion?
Seeing how they are not the only ones who wish to define marriage as only being between a man and woman, I haven't bothered asking about that. I have no interest in the mosque hoopla, so I haven't asked about that either. However, my neighbors, diehard Ford employees, believe it is BS that they want to build a mosque there.
As far as unions, that is a legit question and I have asked about it. Most do not hate union members, they hate that there are union only shops and that one is forced to be a part of that union if they wish to work there.
Both sides love it when government is used to run lives in the way they think it should be ran. And the further left or right you go, the more they fight for EVERYTHING to be just as they think it should be. Whether the people want it or not.

18. That's not at all their feeling on unions. |
|
They do hate most union members, especially those in service unions and government unions. They hate the fact that WE (read them) pay these losers (teachers, fire fighters, cops, etc) with our (read their) taxes.
Then, the union dues just funnel right in to the Dems coffers for re election funds.
Trust me, they hate EVERYTHING union.

11. America is not the Government |
|
America is the People. There's a big difference, especially now, when the Government does not serve or represent the people.

whether you like it or not - because the People make up the government. Now we definitely screwed it up, but we should not turn the government into the boogie man in order to avoid responsibility for allowing it to get so messed up.

15. no, it is not - whether you like it or not |
|
People making up the government does not make the government the same as the people.
What you describe may be sort of a classic government over-reach. Governments, after all, are instituted amnong people to secure their rights. They are not larger than The People, just one set of institutions that The People have set up in order to do certain functions. The nation, itself, is both different and more than "the government".
And saying that the Government is not the nation is not the same thing as turning the government into the boogie man.
