Railroad lobbyist granted immunity in investigation - - WIS. John Doe investigation
Edited on Wed Sep-28-11 11:40 AM by Ellipsis
... more back story.

(snip)

Lucht participated in multiple large stakeholder meetings in Sauk County concerning rails to trails through Sauk Prairie and rail service to Reedsburg and Baraboo. Lucht argued that the railroad couldn't support rails to trails through the villages until the state purchased the Madison-to-Reedsburg line, estimated to cost about $30 million.

(snip)

According to the complaint, Lucht testified in the John Doe that he received $5,000 from Wisconsin and Southern to contribute to Walker's campaign but kept the money because he did not think it was "right" to contribute it. Several months later he reimbursed the company "after William Gardner publicly disclosed his conduct in violation of the campaign finance laws," the complaint said.

The complaint includes an April 15, 2010, email from Gardner to Walker thanking the gubernatorial candidate for meeting with him at a Noodles restaurant and asking him for "support in upgrading this old warn (sic) out rail system that I currently operate on for the State of WI."

According to that complaint Gardner, of Hartford, directed his employees and a friend to donate money to Walker's campaign in 2009 and 2010, then reimbursed them with personal and corporate funds. He reimbursed himself with corporate funds.

3. This is getting juicier
Is there much coverage in Wisconsin on this, or is it a scandal waiting to break?

4. Well, "much" is relative. We get regular snips on local news.
It is definitely a scandal waiting to break but it's been going slow and steady for some time. Ideally this asshole and his INFUCKINGSANE Lt Gov will be arrested, charged and scheduled for trial before we can get recall petitions filed and save us the bullshit. He's dirty and I hope everyone keeps their mouths shut and makes a solid case.
