COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A group of Democrats and voting rights advocates said today they have collected enough signatures to put a new Republican-backed election law up for a voter referendum next year.

Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, of Warrensville Heights, and others trying to repeal the law said they have collected 318,460 petition signatures.

That means House Bill 194, which shortened the early voting window and made other changes to election laws, will not go into effect on Friday as scheduled.
