1. The federal background check sounds a bit draconian to me, but I want |

3. A federal background check isn't as bad as it sounds. I've been through one twice. |
|
It took less than ten minutes each time, running my name through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, also known as the NICS. Standard procedure before they let you buy a firearm, so it doesn't sound so unreasonable to me when they're going to be putting you in close contact with people who might be at a disadvantage if you turned out to be a petty thief or something.

2. Interesting, but rough if you do the math. |
|
They say their 2,000 people have made $10.5 million over the last three years. That's $5200 per person, total, over three years, $1700 a year. Granted, most of that will end up going to the most dedicated members. But even if you assume that with hard work you could earn five times that, it's still not great. Something, but not great.
Not to say I'm dismissing it--like you, I've been either unemployed or underemployed for all but two months out of the last 33, and I know it's horrible enough that any chance seems like a good one.
