... we need some more candidates?

Seems like after the first debate during our primary we were pretty happy with the choices we had to choose from. I don't recall anyone saying we need more candidates like the GOP is doing now after looking at their cast of clowns. Do you?

Or am I not remembering this correctly?

1. How about did you get to see the Democratic debates?
The media coverage of EVERY republican "debate" is making me sick.

5. I watched the early debates and was struck by how "happy" the choice was
I also thought that the primary was so hard fought because I believed whoever won the primary would be the next POTUS.

But I felt strongly that our choices were pretty good.

OTOH, I guess I'm glad, in retrospect, that Edwards didn't do so well.

7. I remember how progressive voices were not allowed in the debates towards
the end. I remember that most of the candidates were DLC. I remember how the media pushed Hillary. I remember how they marginalized Kucinich by asking him about UFO's.

I also remember how Obama beat Hillary over the head about how his plan for health care was superior because it did not require individuals to purchase health insurance.

I remember being disappointed that once Kuchinich was gone there was no clear liberal alternative for me.

8. Not in '08, but I seem to recall constant speculation about
Hillary entering the race in '04 - even after the debates started. I think Kerry even mentioned in a debate that his poll numbers were better than Hillary's.

9. It's not that we were happy with the choices we had ...
it's:
1. we were happy with one or the other of the choices we had, and
2. we were happy to not have several more who we might have had.

11. No. But, how many candidates will we have to choose from in 2012?
We seem to have a choice of one ambitious centrist candidate and no other. Democracy?
