House Democrats request that Clarence Thomas be investigated for the $700,000
that his wife had earned over a number of years, and which he had never
declared on his income tax.

Finally! I think the important thing is that Thomas' dishonesty gets a good public exposure.
There are so many people (Reps. especially) who know nothing about the wrong-doings of high
government officials. Some of these latter will learn something different, for a change.

It would be of benefit to real justice in this country of ours, if he resigned out of
shame. But, I think he has a very thick skin.

3. Yes. NeoCons & other GOPers are well known for their propensity to accuse
other people of the evil that they, themselves, are doing, have done, or will be doing.
In some ways they are so very transparent -- like little children.

6. I wouldn't be surprised if he wouldn't recuse himself, and vote positively
on his own behalf, when the case gets to the Supreme Court.
Typical psychopathic behavior.

9. Tax evasion is the only thing he'll be investigated about, but it's questionable if
that's the only thing he has done that's wrong.

8. Clarence and Ginny should be sitting in the federal pen, just like anybody else in their Docksiders™
Throw the book at 'em. If I was of the same, eh, mindset as their conservative brethren, I'd suggest letting them live in their respective general prison populations.

10. Thomas has fully complied with all tax laws, AFAIK
The charge against Thomas is that he improperly omitted his wife's ideologue-derived income from his required public financial disclosure. Such information is important when, for example, an attorney with a case before Thomas might have a good argument that he should recuse himself because the outcome of the case could have a direct impact on his family finances.

The linked article doesn't mention any allegation of nonreporting or nonpayment to the IRS, and I haven't heard of any such thing.

Thomas's nondisclosure (I don't even need to say "alleged nondisclosure" because he's admitted it) is a serious matter by itself. We shouldn't give the right wing the opportunity to deflect attention by defending Thomas against a straw-man charge of tax evasion.
