"Weather Channel Guy" Yesterday... "Floods in Australia of Blblical Proportions!" |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-14-11 08:36 PM by KoKo
Is the guy who was on with Stephanie Abrams on WC an "End of Time/Doomsayer?" A "Revelations Dancer?"
Thankfully, Stephanie Abrams cut him off...before he had time to spew forth more...
How many of these RW'ers are employed in our Media as "Stealth?"

. . ., he could have been referring to Noah. I've heard the expression used by a lot of people who aren't fundies.

to exaggerate or emphasize how bad something is. I remember the phrase being used in the movie "Ghost Busters". They're hardly RW fundies.

4. I don't believe Stephanie would be on with a right-winger, or |
|
that the Weather Channel would hire such a person. I keep the tv on that channel a lot, and the channel is not right wing.

Perhaps he was utilizing a cultural reference, since most people understand what a flood or anything "of Biblical proportions" is--an adjective phrase describing the enormity (not to mention rarity) of the flooding in Australia.

6. It's a phrase that's commonly used to mean Fucking Huge.. |
|
The phrase 'biblical proportions' has been used by the Queensland state treasurer, and he's definately no RW fundy type. It's been used a fair bit in the media as well. It's just a turn of phrase, kind of like how the phrase 'inland tsunami' was used to describe the flash-flood in Toowoomba and surrounding area. It's not meant to be taken literally, but is being used to get across the size and strength of it...

7. What ....seriously .... ? |
|
The often reflexive response (in this country) of "God bless you", to a sneeze ... does not indicate the person saying it is a zealot .... nor does the phrase "... of biblical proportions" when referencing something well outside the norm
