Not a big era. Not a weighty era. Just the Andy Rooney era.
I liked him. I railed at him. He deserved that 3 month suspension and his reaction during his suspension to those he offended should have netted him another suspension, or maybe unemployment. BUt overall, he was an iconic personality.
When people like this go dark and silent, its a loss for the people who found their presence comforting, at least in the sense of continuity and a link to the past. When Johnny Carson hung it up, I felt the same way.
Andy, if ever I do encounter you in a restaurant, I'll let you enjoy your meal.
But pardon me if I glance your way. You icons just have to endure that from us mere people.
Thanks for thinking and thanks for writing.

2. A few times he made me really mad but I'll miss him. |
|
He's abit older but he was part of my father's generation, I find it sad to see them fading away.

3. I hate to see him go. I guess this is because he represented a comforting presence as you |
|
have stated. At 92 he deserves to live out his last years, and they could be many(!), doing exactly as he wishes. Thanks Andy for the years of continuity and opinion, although I didn't always agree.

6. Andy Rooney was the first atheist I ever encountered (at least that I knew) |
|
And gave me the courage to come out of the closet (so to speak). While I haven't always agreed with him, the fearless way he carried himself was an inspiration.
