Smaller beer bottles in bars? |
|
Maybe this is a DUH moment for me, but the other night I was out and the bottles of beer were smaller. Is this a new thing, or maybe I'm just use to better/cheaper bars.

1. all products are getting smaller |

from beer to paper towels, from tuna to toilet paper. They keep the cost the same and reduce the amount of product you get. I've noticed it at the store, and it's consistent across all product lines.
It's a scam, in my opinion.

i used to have trouble getting my fingers on the holder to change the roll. i had to rip the tube! now, there's plenty of room to release the holder because of the new mini rolls. of course, it being a koch brother product doesn't help its case.

|
One of the local paper plants thats been here since ww2 was purchased by the fu*k brothers and three months or so later they closed it down. Irregardless of the fact that the plant had just installed some new state of the art equipment. Their big mistake was it was a Union shop and I'm convinced that is why the fu*k brothers shut it down to kill the union.

I haven't noticed that. I have noticed the perpetually shrinking packaging, but the price goes up. Plus, the size is often so reduced that you have to buy two of the item just to get what was once a perfectly adequate amount for recipes etc.

It's been going on for years. They leave the size of the package the same, but they put less product in it.

29. I saw some of those the other day. 11 ounce bottle. It was Bud Light Lime. My buddy had some his |
|
girlfriend had left behind at his apartment after they split up. He asked me if I wanted it and I said "no". We proceeded to empty out like 12 of them down the sink so we could recycle the bottles.
And this was in GA on a Sunday.
Bud Light Lime is some nasty stuff. It reminds me of the "Ecto Cooler" flavor of Hi-C they came out with for the Ghostbusters movies when I was a kid back in the mid '80's. LOL

20. Uhm...it's not about the size, it's about the VOLUME. |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-03-11 07:27 AM by Atman
The new Bud "bottles" are smaller and lighter...and not bottles at all, they're cans shaped like bottles. They still hold 12 oz of swill, but Bud can fit many more bottles/cases on a truck, reducing shipping costs, and bars can store more in a given space. Plus, drunken rednecks can't smash them over someone's head, or break one over the bar to make an impromptu weapon, and they don't shatter all over the sidewalk when you fall down drunk.
That said, yes, many retail products ARE smaller, e.g., 6oz tuna can is now 5 or 5.5 oz, a "quart" of ice cream now contains about 28 oz or less, a tub of yogurt is smaller, potato chip bags are smaller, a "pound" of coffee is 11oz...But you still get what you pay for with Budweiser...12oz of Clydesdale urine.

Most hold only 14oz with a half-inch head to the top of the rim, or a full 16oz with zero head and beer threatening to overflow. Then there are the imperial pints you find at some bars. Those are awesome.

54. A friend and I once swiped a pint glass after having a dispute |
|
We were drinking 4 dollar pitchers and I said that they were nice half gallon pitchers instead of those shitty 48 oz pitchers.
My friend said that the pitcher provided more than 4 pint glasses of beer, so I must be underestimating the size.
I said the glass is called a pint glass but it wouldn't hold a pint.
My friend said a pint is 16 oz and the glass would bear him out.
We took the glass.
We got back to my place, fetched an empty beer bottle. Agreed that beer bottles are actually regulated to be 12 ozs. Agreed that if it is a true pint that 4 fills of the bottle should fill the pint a third time.
The beer bottle of water filled the pint glass almost to the brim.
