SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts (AP) — Police say a singer known for his 1990 chart-topping love song was hauled off a Massachusetts stage and arrested on charges of owing $420,000 in unpaid child support.

Steven Bernard Hill of Las Vegas was arrested Friday night at the MassMutual Center, where he was performing on tour. -snip-

ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THIS IS WHY ISN'T CONGRESSMAN JOE WALSH NOT HAULED OFF TO JAIL ON THESE SAME CHARGES ..... WHILE HE IS MAKING SOME DUMB ASS COMMENT IN FRONT OF CONGRESS WHILE ON THE JOB ???? ..... BUELLER ....... BUELLER .... ??

note: who the hell is Steven Bernard Hill? No disrespect intended ..... but I am familiar with Joe Walsh somewhat lately.

He's known as "Stevie B"
He's a one hit wonder, who hit #1 in 1990 with this:

2. Congressmen have immunity
At least until they are out of session. But only the poor and powerless get arrested in this country.

9. Probably, but it would take a constitutional amendment
And what congressman would vote for it?

7. There must have been plenty of times they could had arrested
or brought him to court to explain why he wasn't paying considering Congress has numerous recesses and vacations.

12. He probably doesn't have the money now

Thats why he got arrested.

Oh, and in case you didn't know, here's how child support works:

If you're paying and not in arrears, you can request a hearing to change the amount. Probably be denied since you've got the money to pay.

If you're in arrears, you can request a hearing to change the amount, but it'll be ignored until you've caught up.

So, if you have a change of circumstances and get behind, you're fucked.

I pay child support, so all of this was explained to me. I haven't been in arrears, so I don't know that part personally.

13. Could be
But he's still making albums as late as 2 yrs ago, still releasing singles, still touring, and still playing in major venues, so it's hard to imagine he's destitute. Looks like more of a case of teh stupids for not petitioning the court for some type of arrangement.

11. Here's the text of that part of the constitution
"They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place."

Plenty of times when they are not traveling to and from their respective Houses, no?

6. I don't blame you
for not knowing who this guy is.

I was born in Springfield, lived there and went to school there for many years, and now live about 25 miles away.

Never heard of the guy either.
