Former officer admits to being "in a funk" and shooting and killing his son over custody of grandson
Police said a fight over the custody of Davis Jr.'s young son started at Davis Sr.'s Apopka home. According to investigators, Davis Sr. and his wife, Tarsha, told their son he had give the baby to the child's mother and work things out in court.

Police said Davis Jr. became outraged, cursing and tackled his father.

According to a police report, Davis Sr.'s young daughter was also home at the time. She said she saw her father walk outside with a bloody mouth. She was hiding behind the family's basketball hoop, crying.

Davis Sr. served on the Orlando Police Department for 18 years before he retired. He has since owned two day cares, in Apopka and Sanford, with his wife.
