It's all an abstraction. There's ALWAYS money...
...for enterprises that the elites are behind. Have you noticed, we NEVER lack funding for war. If they need more, they just pass an emergency appropriations bill and voila! money pours from the Treasure into the coffers of the private corporations who supply the war machine.

Not only that, if the elites want tax breaks for the wealthy and the corporations, hey, waddaya know, there's a bill before Congress and it passes before you can say "Bob's your uncle". And this happens even when the nation has just embarked on a new war or two.

And when money gets tight, they just create more, and call it "Quantitative Easing". They use phrases like that to obfuscate, so the proles won't get the idea that money can just be produced out of thin air. Because that would be a very subversive insight.

In the meantime, we get lectured by Congress and pundits and the asshole banks on those oh-so-important virtues of "living within our means" and "personal responsibility".

There is a beast that needs starving all right, and that beast is the global criminal corporate enterprise. It encompasses manufacturing companies who continue to drive the race to the bottom for workers. It encompasses financial institutions who dictate terms to sovereign nations, insisting that they punish their citizens for the mistakes of the elites. It encompasses modern capitalism with its imperative of endless growth, even in the face of global warming and environmental degradation and all of the ills that accompany inherently unsustainable systems.

We need to quit feeding that beast. The people in charge of today's systems are: greedy, immoral, unethical, inhumane, and cruel -- in short, they are criminals. They need to be treated like the criminals they are. I am not suggesting the guillotine, just incarceration and throw away the keys.

1. The 1%ers protection comes from (1) private security and (2) military.
If people stopped joining the military...
