I just found it on the front page. Yeppers, Hank is quite the booty-wipe. Guess he's trying to get publicity as I imagine his music still sucks.

One reason why I haven't given sarah palin's Facebook page a piece of my mind. I just simply cannot bring myself to indicate publicly to anyone that I "Like" sarah palin. Not possible.

14. There is a lot of good country music
I am a blues fan personally, but I really like some (especially the old) country music.
Hank Williams senior had some great songs. Try 'The Highwayman" by Willie Nelson.
Country music includes bluegrass, music that is hard to "hate with the intensity of a thousand burning suns."
Open up a bit. The new country music is shit, but the real country has some great stuff.

I love country music, the roots of it...

It's so simple and yet speaks of a yearning that touches most people who want something better...

Remember, Woody Guthrie was a country music guy.

I'm still not sure of what you actually intended to write. But, after reading through the thread, I get the gist. You certainly made me think. LOL

38. Problem with this type of thing is that it's hard to be consistent
What he said was asinine. I despise most Nazi references in contemporary American politics because I think it cheapens the memory of the tens of millions of people who died because of the Nazis. It's also incredibly disrespectful to the person you are leveling the accusation at.

But in the end, it was just speech. I have a much lower opinion of artists who have actually committed heinous crimes.

Just take Chuck Berry for example. If you don't know what he did to get in trouble, you probably don't want to, because it involves cameras and toilets. Nonetheless, the man is still a legend and I don't enjoy his music any less or think it shouldn't be played just because he has a penchant for recording women taking a crap without their knowledge.

If you think Hank should be drummed off of the airwaves because he said something stupid about the president, what about all of the other musicians who have actually hurt people or worse? There's no shortage of people accused or even convicted of rape in the music business, for instance. If you think Hank Jr's career should get the death penalty for calling the president is a Nazi, how can you give a pass to people who have done worse things?

That's why I say fuck it. Keep the criticism to his comments and leave his music out of it. If a consumer chooses not to purchase his music because of this, that's their business, but I think it should end there.

I said the same thing when the Dixie Chicks were railroaded and I have no problem saying it now.

41. But the difference is that Chuck Berry is a genius
and I am aware that Chuck's proclivities extend beyond just toilets and cameras.
Randall Williams is a no-talent buffoon.
I am far more willing to overlook someone's (Eliot or Pound for example) repugnant views if the work is outstanding.
Call me an elitist, but Nocephus doesn't make the aesthetic cut.

49. I can't argue with that
I don't think Hank Jr. is a legend either, but I'm also not a country fan. I think some country fans probably do think he's awesome.

But there's many more examples of non-legends misbehaving as well. Rick James, Boy George, Axl Rose, Courtney Love . . . and on and on it goes. I also have no problem with ESPN canning him either. That's their business. But I draw the line at radio stations I guess.

39. Quite the opposite. This will bring his career back from the shitter. Couple weeks ago my roommate

was listening to the local corporate country station and some righwing cocknuckle called in and requested "Welfare Cadillac" which was pretty much the anthem of the "Southern strategy" set during the Nixon era.

Its been in steady rotation ever since. Its a really shitty song. Even aside from the disagreeable subject manner, its just bad.
