I Could Use Some Perspective Here: Something I Heard This Weekend, Floored Me...
I'm visiting friends and having a brew at a working-class/fairly progressive tavern, and when the subject of #Occupywallstreet comes up, a steadfast Democrat says...

(Paraphrasing): "Well that's all well and good... but I worry that the focus on those protests will deflect attention to Obama's re-election efforts."

Gotta admit... I didn't see that one coming.

Anybody else heard this particular "concern"???

4. Isn't that a good thing?
Now we have protests on video that counter the Tea Baggers protests on video.

I think it is pretty easy to present this as the anti tea party movement.

5. This seems kinda "out there to me, also. How does affect
Obam???? Could the person have been a Conservative
Democrat??? The Moderate Republicans(Conservative
Democrats) tend to get upset with any kind of
demonstration by Activists. The Wall Street Protests
are not claiming to be Democrats. Leave it to
Democratic Party to shoot themselves in the foot
once again.

7. Sounds like real good down to earth propaganda
Spread it through the grapevine in hopes it will kill the public support for the protests.

8. Big fat red herring, IMO.
Frankly, I think the publicity for the OWS protest can only help Obama's reelection. Right now the Rethugs are garnering all of the attention while they try to figure out if anyone in their current crop of candidates isn't just too damn stupid to win an election. I think the protests offer a nice contrast to that particular side show. On one side, passionate, young Americans with fire in their bellies and brand new diplomas facing the prospect of a bleak future, and on the other, millionaires duking it out for the support of the 1% billionaires, retards like Bachman and Perry trying to out-bigot each other for the dubious "honor" of the nomination of the most corrupt political institution since Teapot Dome. (look it up, Michelle)

Of course, that's just my opinion.

9. I heard another one today. That is Obama is reelected, the recession will last longer.
I wanted to ask if this was because congress blocks everything he tries to do, but decided to not lose a customer and money. Sigh.

10. This might depend laregely on how/where an individual hears about the protests
So if they are only learning of it through the mainstream, they may have a very different notion of what is going on there, and why.

14. I think that is basically Ed Schultz's position.
He said on the radio that they should disband and work on Obama's campaign. Out of touch "lefty" media hound.

15. Yeah well, it's a big tent. If the guy wants to ignore OWS and help Obama get elected, let him do it
I'll make room for him as long as he makes room for me.
