Poll question: Is it time for DU to set up a temporary Big Topic for OCCUPY WALL STREET ?
The occupywallstreet.org site works. It is also tiny. There is no experience with bloggers using it.

DU is just fine. Also, Skinner is sane where Markos admits to flights of megalomania and HuffPo would be a bad joke.

Occupy Wall Street is our best hope for turning things around. The focus is on Wall Street greed and the resulting criminal conspiracies. This keeps growing -- 5,000 to 10,000 next weekend, for example -- then the whole narrative of the Tea Party gets flattened and maybe the Good Lord will continue to burn Texas as a sign for their repentance.

What happened in 2010 can be turned all the other way.

Idea's to mirror content. I O.K.'d that with their media people today, along with dropping a load of winter clothing. Then the DU site can expand what happens with much wider discussion -- plus tying together commentary on what works from around the country.

So, let's try a poll:

If so, where ?

I'll be happy to clean things up.

9. That was easy. So it was posted and the fatal-error message went out.
That one got hit with crazy stuff. Half the voters chose "trout."

The comments were nutty, too. Destructive.

11. I think most of the comments were spot on
mine included. Thanks for calling me nutty though, that must mean I'm heading in the right direction.

16. Bitchin' about the poll language ??? That's useless and misses the point.
I asked about doing this, if DU agrees, and the OWS people think mirroring-plus-discussion is a great way to go.

They're not trying to build a web site.

Zero interest in technology per se.

Access to the 175,000 DU registrees... yes, indeed !

18. you asked questions where the no answer was ridiculous
and putting OWS in a dungeon negates it.

21. "Trout" is common slang for a jazzy "No."
Of course why would anyone want to obstruct connecting DUers better into the OWS labor pool ?

so I would ask your question back to you.

2. Btw ::: having DU edit comments has a huge advantage for the OWS movement.
If it's DU doing the erasures then nobody gets mad at the OWS people.

Let people get mad at DU. Hell, that's the norm anyway. Goes with the territory.

Their .org site is not set up as well as DU. Not by a long shot. It's O.K. for bulletins. We can mirror their bulletins easily enough.

Jus' sayin'....

7. Nah, OWS and Occupy Together don't need DU to hold it's hand or co-opt it
but please link to updates and local pages. I'd suggest that in the State forums would be a good place to keep it straight.

I enjoy the posts, but want to avoid linking OWS with DU. The Occupy Movement has no political affiliation.

I hope that no one co-opts the OWS movement. I like the leaderless autonomous approach of the Occupy Movement.

...if there's not a Big Topic that gets regularly updated by one or two people then I might (might) do it...

The past six months have been draining.

Events... Egypt, national debates, election nights, etc.

13. Bingo ! This is our Tahrir Square.
New York City is getting it, today, that the cops set up the 700 arrests last weekend.

We're not going to get 1,000,000 people. But 50,000 in NYC within a couple Saturdays will break this out big time.

DU can help make that happen.

19. If this could pull an extra 1,000 people for Saturday that'll match what LARGE UNIONS are doing.
Moving bodies is the game here.

Saturday is the biggest day, at least so far.

1,000 from a 175,000 list -- that's doable counting friends, spouses, children, other family.

If setting up a dedicated mirror-plus-discussion can turn out bodies for OWS events then it's a good idea.

Hell folks, even 100 extra people is good.

Why not give a decent reason for no? OWS is a truly progressive movement, and DU is no longer progressive.

14. Why are you here ??? "DU is no longer progressive."
DU'oh.

Also, OWS is heavily bourgeois with a student debt overhang.

"Progressive" is overstating the case for OWS. OWS is about the utter collapses of RULE OF LAW and the SOCIAL CONTRACT.

I've been down twice to spend hours talking to people. Talked with three of the main coordinators.

20. People from here turn out for the OWS events, I don't give a red cent what they think.
And I'll be the last person in line for going judgmental on people.

"Who's a true progressive" starts with Bob La Follette and ends anywhere that anybody who's anti-fascist wants it to end -- at least for me.

25. Criticism is wholly welcome here, and has been for a decade. Only during election season...
...is it not permitted because it's too easy for false flag or psyops to infiltrate and continue "criticizing."

I do not consider trolls progressives.

29. I think most people congregate in the established forums.
The OWS threads have been getting lot of attention in here, I think a dedicated separate forum would tend to reduce participation actually. Maybe a dedicated thread with the objectives you are hoping to hit? People can commit to keeping it moving, so it stays up in the forum.

32. No. Here is why I think it is a bad idea:
If it gets sent off to some group or forum off to the side, it will not have as much publicity. It will become somewhat of a dust bunny under the bed, so to speak. People will not see it as much.

We don't need another important issue relegated to some dungeon like forum no one ever visits. Those sub-forums and groups often become like cluster fucks and it almost always kills the discussion. I'd rather see it on the latest page and in the main forums where it can be discussed by more people.
