My bike got stolen.
Sometime between yesterday at 12:30 pm and today at 4:45 pm, my bicycle was stolen.

I bought this bike after my last bike was destroyed in a hit and run accident. I was battered and bruised, but my bike was destroyed.

If there's anyone around Denver that has a mountain bike collecting dust in their closet that wouldn't mind loaning it out for a good beating until I can afford to buy another one, I would truly appreciate the loaner.

Thanks for your help.

3. Sorry, tough luck.
I had two bikes stolen in Germany. Crime might be lower in Europe but don't leave a bicycle alone for five seconds.

4. If I were to have left it unlocked, I wouldn't be asking for help.
I locked my bike behind my apartment building in the space allocated.

I don't have renter's insurance, so I'm SOL.

7. Locks are to keep honest people honest. If somebody really wants what you have locked
they will get it sooner or later.

6. Check out Craigslist and also Bikeforums.net
There are sometimes FREE, or nearly FREE, functioning bikes on Craigslist.

9. Having a Bike Stolen is tough.
It was traumatic for me.
I felt assaulted.
I was surprised how deeply it affected me.
It was hard to get to the point where I could just Let it Go.
In fact, I can feel my anger coming up as I type this.

I posted about it in the Bicycling Group at DU.

Good luck finding a replacement.
Bummer :(

10. That happened to me once. I was housesitting and stopped in to check on the house one day.
I was inside for maybe an hour. Parked the bike around the back of the house. Someone was probably watching me. When I went to leave the bike was gone. The worst thing was it didn't belong to me - it was my dad's bike.

12. Happened to me a while back. BF let me ride his for a couple weeks.
Then I found a much much better one for a great price on Craigslist. Ratnastythiefpunk ended up doing me a favor.

It still sucked though. I liked my ugly old bike. It saw me through some rough times. And the ratnastytheifpunk probably just dumped it to rust in some ditch somewhere.

You should re-post this in the CO forum if you haven't already.

Good luck.
