But even though his bank account's changed, VF writer Nick Tosches, who has known Depp for more than 10 years, says he's "still the same old Johnny." It is obvious that being photographed all the time hasn't gotten any easier for the actor.

“You just feel like you’re being raped somehow. Raped. The whole thing. It feels like a kind of weird—just weird, man," Depp says of getting his photo snapped. "Whenever you have a photo shoot or something like that, it’s like —- you just feel dumb. It’s just so stupid."

"I am truly sorry for offending anyone in any way. I never meant to. It was a poor choice of words on my part in an effort to explain a feeling," he says in a statement on the Huffington Post. "I understand there is no comparison and I am very regretful. In an effort to correct my lack of judgment, please accept my heartfelt apology."

5. I am not offended by his pointing out that being chased by papparazzi

is a frightening personal violation. People are TOO thin-skinned and take offense at EVERY LITTLE THING these days. Sheesh.

7. i am one that can get what he is saying. it matters on context. there have been times

when i hear people (men) use the term rape when it is a slap in the face to people that have experienced rape. then it is offensive. this time, i didnt feel it, but i get it. it is best to not use rape as a means of describing a lot of victimization, though. lesson learned.
