As much as I despise Chase, their fraud Dept caught a big one,
and this wasn't the first time. I don't know how someone got our credit card information, but they tried to charge about $1000 in merchandise. It was declined, and the fraud department called me. New cards are on their way to me and hubby who is out of state for the next two weeks.

I hate thieves.

2. well, they weren't really looking out for YOU
... since the credit card company is on the hook for fraudulent charges--you'd only be out the first $50.

3. Most, if not all card companies shut down your card now when they suspect fraud.
It's quite annoying.
One of the big reasons I switched from my prior card. They'd shut it down constantly.
I'd call up "Hi, I'm at a gas station in a bad neighborhood, turn my card back on please" and they'd want to play 20 questions.

8. No kidding - try going on vacation with a BoA credit card.
Edited on Wed Oct-05-11 06:32 PM by iris27
Didn't want to use the debit card - more protection. But they kept holding up every charge as potentially fraudulent, and refused when we called to note in our file that we were on vacation in Florida and to assume any further Florida charges as legit. They wanted us to call them every single time we charged something! No way in hell; we switched to using a different card. Guess they didn't want our money?

9. No, no they don't. BofA couldn't say it any louder or any clearer...
They don't want your business, now please go away.

That would make a catchy slogan actually.

10. Citibank did that to a friend of mine. Over and over.
Because of another matter, though, she and her spouse finally told them to fuck off.

4. Happens every year or so with my debit card. The bank usually catches it and declines it. Once the
purchase went thru - American express type gift cards - but the bank wiped it off.

My bank isn't Chase, btw.

5. I am a Bank of America customer,
And they are right on it if they think there is any suspicious activity on my account. And and I thank them for it. Once one, I left my card in the ATN and someone behind me withdrew $100 from my account. Bank of America reimbursed me the money.

7. My Credit Union's service caught a similar scam attempt
within hours. Had new cards in hand before taking a trip a few days later.

Even a lot of smaller banks and credit unions have great fraud detection/action units.
