Meanwhile Greece Just Bought 400 Tanks From The US
While the sickeningly bored European debt crisis continues with Greece possibly running out of money within weeks, and with the European banking system on the brink of collapse, there is a small piece of comedy, although probably a dark one.

Swedish newspaper SvD Näringsliv reports that Greece has apparently just ordered 400 tanks from the United States (what?).

Google Translate version reads:

According to the site Defencegreece, which in turn cites the newspaper Hellenic Defence & Technology, is the U.S. government gave the green light for the Hellenic Army to procure 400 of tanks such as M1A1 Abrams.

It’s about used vehicles, and the store is either a renovation, at a cost of tens of millions of dollars according Defencegreece, or a more advanced and even more expensive upgrade.

Greece has also been under the Hellenic Defence & Technology requested a quote on 20 pieces of amphibious model AAV7A1. This is the first step in a business where the Greek defense plans to buy between 75 and 100 copies.

3. Do we want Greece to invade Turkey, Albania, Bulgaria or amphibious assault on Italy?
Lots of interesting possibilities for enterprising arms dealers in that area.:bounce: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke:

6. This is absolutely sick.
I suppose they are worried about having to fight Turkey or Cypress. It's ridiculous. The Greek people should remove those "leaders" from their positions for wasting the public money.

8. Let's hope they're not planning on going "Assad" on them.
Seriously, their military was one of the causes of their huge budget deficit in years past. They played effective politics and always bought tons of military hardware that they had little use for.
