Bloomberg, 4th Richest Person in US Due to Wall Street, Is About to Snap the Mouse Trap Shut on Thos
http://blog.buzzflash.com/node/13051

You might expect that from a man who is the fourth-wealthiest person in America, with $19.5 billion dollars in his pocket. Moreover, Bloomberg made a lot of money as a Wall Street financier, but he catapulted into the multibillionaire category by revolutionizing financial market information and selling a specialized terminal and access services to the financial industry (followed by Bloomberg media services).

In short, his fortune is directly integrated into the Wall Street status quo.

:snip:

Yesterday, BuzzFlash at Truthout wrote that there is little doubt that law enforcement officials - at the behest of corporate-backed politicians - are infiltrating and planning ways to discredit the Wall Street autumn of democracy.

In his plutocratic cloud of personal financial interest and self-serving disdain for the right of assembly, Bloomberg resembles a monarchist, not a mayor.

4. Sorry, but I have to shake my head at the paranoia here.
"Yesterday, BuzzFlash at Truthout wrote that there is little doubt that law enforcement officials - at the behest of corporate-backed politicians - are infiltrating and planning ways to discredit the Wall Street autumn of democracy."

One, Truthout is a den of liars and plagiarists, and so deserves a hearty fuck you. Maybe they'll have more information in 24 business hours.

Second, this line about "Oh, they're infiltrating us to try and discredit us!!1" is part and parcel of every large protest from anti-war, to Tea Party, to OWS, and it's pretty much universally a line of total bullshit, peddled in order to deny accountability for the bad behavior of some of the people in the protest. It's not enough to just say "some people behave badly," it has to be blamed on the evil enemy. It's paranoia coupled with a fine display of the "no true Scotsman" fallacy, that no TRUE member of (insert movement name here) could possibly do anything untoward, because they're all saints.

The NYPD has pretty clearly demonstrated that they don't need any added excuse to arrest protesters, and fact of the matter is that the large majority of the country still doesn't care.

7. The NYPD already created an excuse to arrest protestors who were
walking along the pedestrian walkway on the Brooklyn Bridge until the police walked in front of them down the center of the bridge. The actions of the police were quite reasonably interpreted as an instruction to get on the street part of the bridge. The police were prepared for the massive arrests. It looks very much like they planned the whole thing. They had big bags of plastic handcuffs and the transportation was ready.

So, there is every reason to be very suspicious about the motives and conduct of the police and the City of New York.

If Mayor Bloomberg had half a brain, he would be down there in Liberty Square talking to the protestors.

He is a fool to oppose this movement.

11. Too many confirmed examples over 50+ yrs to completely dismiss
From labor union, civil rights, antiwar, ... we know that public and private security security groups have routinely infiltrated protests groups, primarily as informants, but also to disrupt or even instigate actions that discredit the protests.

I would agree that most protest groups have members who have or could do stupid things all on their own.

12. Agents provacateurs exist, and are a well-known police tactic.
They've done it before:

A very detailed video of blatant activity in Toronto G20

I'm not aware of any reports of this nature from OWS yet, but it would not surprise me if it happens.

6. The protestors need to get rid of the microphones
and make sure that everyone who is in their group is focused on repeating the statements in the original way. That will make it harder for outsiders to distract or divert the focus. Anyone who does not participate should be reminded to be silent so that others can hear.

This is a very dangerous time because demonstrators may be starting to get tired and could easily miss the actions of a troublemaker or infiltrator.

Here in LA the Occupy Los Angeles group is getting support from members of the City Council. Maybe the occupiers in New York could get similar support and even have some observers present. I hope they keep the video cameras running. The live feed is important, but the demonstrations are so huge that they can't catch everything and post it on the internet.
