3. Maine's fascination with...
...a politics-without-politicians comes back to haunt it.

We'd never have Collins without Rensenbrink splitting the vote against her. Now we can't get her out. He was a Green, though, and while a spoiler, a principled spoiler.

Cutler, not so much.

he was not elected by the majority of the people in Maine. We were dealing with three candidates the last election, and the same for Baldacci as well.

This guy has been running a chain of stores called Marden's. Basically a surplus store full of underpaid employees. Kind of like Wal-Mart.

He grew up poor, many children in the family with an abusive father. He left home, made his way. Draft dodger who moved to Canada, was married there and had children. After the war, he left his wife and kids. At least that's the story I've been given, I still haven't found a trace of a former wife in Canada.

He's crude, and speaks his mind. I'm betting he'll be a 1 term gov.
