Let's place the debate where it belongs...
Not whether the right wing rhetoric is this or that or if Sarah Palin's cross hairs meant to incite to violence.
Not whether we need to be more civil and congresspeople should mix instead of being on each side of the aisle, etc.
Not whether we need to cut social security benefits or raise the debt ceiling to alleviate the economic crisis.
Not whether Julian Assange is a traitor or on the same level as Bob Woodward or Carl Bernstein.

All the above is fluff, only distracting us from the real issues:

We have handed the reins of government to Corporate Fascism, without even a whimper of protest.

Obama has forgotten, that governing on steadfast principles is stronger, and actually the basis for the founding of this country (aside from the native genocide that came with it) and that by governing on compromise, he is compromising the moral fiber of this country. It is as if Bush/Cheney had reworked this country, and Jefferson, Franklin et al. were now obsolete, not to mention MLK who must be tossing in his grave.

We are pouring trillions into 2 illegal wars which were started only on account of greed. These funds are not taken into account in the National budget, yet they drain the economy and kill the normal cycle of offer and demand, not to mention the human price paid.

We think that killing can solve all problems, which has never been proven to be true, think the death penalty is a good thing, and that invading countries and "killing militants" from unmanned drones reduces the threat of terrorism.

Amongst all the cuts to protect the war economy (that only brings profits to the corporate fascists who keep it going) we cut, ever since Reagan, mental health services to the point where people who are unstable or even shell shocked or suffering from some kind of PTSD, have nowhere to go but where their delusions will lead them.

There are more real issues, but I am depressing myself so I'll stop.

We don't hear any of these points debated anywhere, except by Mike Malloy, Thom Hartmann, and Amy Goodman on radio, Paul Krugman, Frank Rich and a few blogs.
We are still in a dark tunnel of denial and oblivion, and I cannot see much light at the end...
What will it take to wake us up?

1. Public financing of campaigns is the only avenue to resolve this.
Corporate fascism is an incendiary concept also. I would say we are better served by producing viable solutions instead of using language that produces rage without a viable and safe course of action.

2. I agree with public financing, definitely..
though it is not a perfect solution.
Also, a limit (as in the now obsolete anti-trust legislation) to ownership of press and media outlets.
There are many other solutions, like not fueling the fire of terrorism by continuing a vision of Empire that only aggravates the situation.
My question to you (and I don't think corporate fascism is in any way incendiary...what is incendiary about it???) is how do we make these solutions come to be? How do we get public financing of campaign, and enforcement of anti-trust law, how do we keep the FCC honest, etc. etc. and so on?
Do you have any advice?

I say honest discourse (such as using words like corporate fascism without anyone thinking it is so incendiary. It's the truth), and opening of debate on the real issues would be a start...

6. Education on policy and on what measures are in congress are the productive way to address issues.

If we can be a source of education and citizen activism at least we have a chance.

I just think that our country has focused on the emotional without focusing on the nonviolent and realistic actions needed to remedy things. And we need to be aware that without widespread support our views, however heartfelt, won't win the day.

3. When wealth inequity gets to this level...............
There's no solution that will come without pain. The MOST painless way to address it is with tax hikes on the wealthy.

Corporate fascism is just another phrase for capitalism. It's no more incendiary than any truth is. We cannot solve a problem without IDENTIFYING the problem. Either word (or phrase) merely identifies the problem.

4. So address it with a solution, perhaps tax hikes for the wealthy.
But rage without an outlet serves what purpose? Unaimed, it can be counter productive.

5. Even some Republicans

can see where the fault lies.

There is always a way to shift the blame away from Republican callousness, irresponsiblity and neglect, but they cannot be absolved of their role in creating and perpetuating the current situation.

As for mental health services: Health Care Reform Contains Major Expansion Of Access To Mental Health Services
