Obama and Holder Then and Now on Medical Marijuana..
In 2004, Barack Obama said the drug war was "an utter failure" and we need to rethink it.

In New Hampshire in 2007, he said he would not have the Justice Department prosecute medical marijuana. Obama during the presidential campaign: He won't use Justice Department resources to circumvent state laws.

In March, 2009, the New York Times reports Holder said "the administration would effectively end the Bush administration’s frequent raids on distributors of medical marijuana."

2. Yep...I fell for the whole "Hope and Change" bit..
Not only did I vote for Obama, but I donated to his campaign and talked him up to others around here in SW Washington. Now, many of those same folks are giving me the old "I told you so" routine. There's not much I can say in response, because they've proven to be right..

3. At a time when budgets are squeezed and

legislatures claim they need to cut expenses on vital programs, why is this administration squandering resources on prosecuting the sick?

What a joke.

The for-profit prison and pharmco's are lovin' it. The 1% corporate lobbyist fuckers who get whatever they want from Obama and Congress.

And the 99%? Who mostly agree cannabis use is a non-issue/non-crime? We're fucked again.

It's too sad to contemplate.

"he was for a lot of things when he was campaigning that he is no longer for -- !!"

6. The DOJ hasn't ordered teh closing of all dispensaries, so...
is it possible that the recent orders comply with Holder's statement in your NYT article that:

Speaking with reporters, Mr. Holder provided few specifics but said the Justice Department’s enforcement policy would now be restricted to traffickers who falsely masqueraded as medical dispensaries and “use medical marijuana laws as a shield.”

???

Maybe in 2004 and 2007 Obama didn't know that the White House doesn't control all the legal actions that the DOJ can and does undertake?
