Blame Ronald Reagan for Occupy Wall Street and the 99%ers.
Reagan popularized the question "Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?". This generation gets it and has followed directly to the financial source.

Try this out on Right Wingers the two times I did it left them stunned.

2. I'd be surprised if a right winger deflected that question
Most would say 'things have become worse under Obama.' That's his problem. The economy is shitty and the sitting president has to eat it every time, whether or not it's their fault. We've seen it over and over. Carter was unfairly blamed and Reagan was unfairly credited. Same thing the next time. H-Dub was blamed and Clinton got the credit. Then W. ate shit (as reflected by his second term poll numbers) and Obama inherited his mess. Now he has to own it, whether it's fair or not.

They despise Obama but understood it in terms of Reagan admitted that these kids have it far worse than they did and they have not been better off for a long time. Of course Reagan's time was the golden age. I did point out Reagan asked the question and it keeps being asked.
