When I was in the third grade, would be 1956. We took a nickle in on Friday to pay for our milk for the week. Yes a half pint of milk was a penney. My Mother would give my brother and I each 3 nickles, she would tell us to pay for our milk and give the other 2 nickles to the teacher. Tell the teacher to pay for the kids whose parents could not afford it. That is why I am a proud Liberal. My brother on the other hand is a very rich righty. He was ranting about the President wants his money to pay for the people who don't work. I told him, him "You forgot where you came from. He called me a bleeding heart liberal. I said thanks!

4. I can't figure out where my brothers changed either |
|
My parents were very liberal politically. My mother even ran a couple of campaigns for Democratic Senators locally. Yet I have 2 brothers who live and breath on every breath of the GOP. And the other one is so racist, he can't stand Obama.

7. Parents are not always the biggest influence on our lives even |
|
though we would like to think we are. Peers can really change a person even after they are grown up. One of my brothers married into a family that though a lot like your brothers because of the influence of her family. After they got a divorce I helped him come back home by letting him read books about people like Harry Truman. I knew he would like them and today he is a very informed Democrat. It is all about who we run into in life.

It seems that your mother taught you well. Kinda sad your bro seems to have forgotten all that, though. :(
