It matters where you have recently worked on your resume. So working |
|
the farm picking jobs that are available could negatively affect your future. I think it is called the 'port of entry' theory of economics. At what level you enter the job market matters. I mean 'job creators' are not even hiring people who have been unemployed for a bit.

1. Which is why I put everything |

Free consulting work, volunteering, etc on my new resume. And I ask for a title.
Production Manager, Re-Marketing Director. Neither job paid, it was volunteer. They agree to give me references.

2. I think it matters more that you are truthful in your skills and experience |

If you make it to an interview and you know nothing about what your resume contains, don't expect to go any further.

And it's unfortunate as well as unfair.
There are plenty of us out there that work whatever jobs we can, to make money and for the opportunity to simply WORK. And I can tell that potential employers look down on me when they read all the menial jobs that are (were) on my resume.
FWIW, I now work two part time jobs while looking for full time work, and simply don't put these latest ones on my resume. I did put my latest volunteer work down, though.

4. I'd be in big trouble - I starting my work life at 12 years old as a maid |
|
in the home of one of the business people of my town. Did not get paid minimum wage and they did not pay into SSA for me. But at that age I was one of the few kids who had any money. I really thought I was something. Over the years I had many jobs and most of them were not good jobs because I had to work any job I had around taking care of my disabled daughter. Fortunately I am 70 years old and not looking for a job.
