9. They don't seem to be the ones bringing it up
You may be right, but we're the ones who seem to be obsessed about it.

17. We must have watched a different show...
Cain said he was in high school during the civil rights "era" (my word) LO pointed out he was in COLLEGE FROM 1963-19967
LO pretended to think Cain was i the Navy so he would be corrected and then be able to ask why he was a CHICKENHAWK like the rest of the pugs...

Well prepared and very smart I thought...

19. Are you kidding?
Lawrence got under his very thin skin and Cain was hot at him the rest of the interview.

O'Donnell pointed out the many iconsistencies beween what he says in his book and the actual facts. For instance, Cain said on the show that he was too young and in high school to be active in the civil rights struggle, but O'Donnell pointed out that he was in college from 63-67.

O'Donnell had him on the ropes the entire time, and Cain was angry the entire time.

It's hard to imagine how someone with such thin skin and such a hot temper ever was a good manager for Pillsbury.

20. Lawrence wasn't outsmarted. Did you see the look on his face? He was..
helping to prop up Cain with the repukes to take votes away from mitt and perry. Lawrence knew exactly what he was doing.

3. Lawrence followed his often used pattern of setting up his guest
Edited on Thu Oct-06-11 10:33 PM by eleny
He let Cain have his say for quite some time. But when LO got into the issue of military service he skillfully went after Cain so he could illustrate that Cain failed to participate by his own choice during the Vietnam years. As he chose not to participate in civil rights action when he was an adult (post high school years) but benefited by the blood and sweat of others.

10. I think we are use to Rachel Maddow's interview techniques
which imo Lawrence does not have, I don't think he sets up his guest
as often as you would like which can be a turn off for most people
including me, but I saw something today that made me giggle watching
Herman danced around a question regarding his time at school during
the civil rights movement.

12. Lawrence has a method for interviewing right wingers and he used it tonight
Edited on Thu Oct-06-11 10:51 PM by eleny
It's sort of a rope-a-dope. That's what I watched tonight and I was delighted as it unfolded like a familiar formula. All Cain could do was get insulted or try to change the subject. Lawrence let him do that since he achieved his goal of revealing Cain's hypocrisy.

LO doesn't usually gloat on the spot and he didn't laugh in Cain's face. I give him credit for that. After all, he wants Cain back as a guest. In fact, Cain pretty much asked for an invite. I'm looking forward it.

13. When LO ask him how life would be for blacks if Rosa Parks had used his fathers advice
Cain answered my father never got advice from Rosa Parks. What a moron.
