A blast from the past -- Geo. Bush and how he's going to create a surplus by 2010
Edited on Sat Jan-15-11 02:02 PM by mistertrickster
President Bush argued in February 2001 that his fiscal policy "returns ... the surplus to the American taxpayers".

In his 2001 testimony to Congress, then Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan supported President Bush by offering projections of "an on-budget surplus of almost $500 billion ... in fiscal year 2010". The National Debt would soon be retired and the Boomer's retirements secure. Greenspan offered a projection of "an implicit on-budget surplus under baseline assumptions well past 2030 despite the budgetary pressures from the aging of the baby-boom generation, especially on the major health programs."

Mr Bush also said in February 2001: "After paying the bills, my plan reduces the national debt, and fast. So fast, in fact, that economists worry that we're going to run out of debt to retire. That would be a good worry to have."

In fact, Geo. Bush inherited a national debt of 5.7 TRILLION

and left us, after two wars, massive tax cuts for the rich, money in the mail (tax "rebates"), and practically no JOB GROWTH with a debt of over 11 TRILLION.

EPIC FAIL.

2. And what's really sad is seeing the RepubliCON party suddenly discover this horrible
horrible problem of the growing national debt . . . but only until a Democratic president was voted into office.

4. Those two asshats couldn't create a Lego police car if you spotted them plans and the 48 pieces.
The Liar in Chief said a lot of things and not one of them turned out to be true. And so many people (although they kind of just slink away when asked if they voted for him twice) fell for his bullshit, which is why it seems almost comical that they're already suggesting Jeb continue the dynasty for '12 or '16.

And don't even get me started on Greenscam.

6. As Clinton brought the deficit down, Repubs said they'd do it FASTER.
Then they got Bush, and the deficit went back up and stayed there year after Bush year, driving the debt to be almost twice what Clinton left.

And, instead of the deficit heading down as Clinton left, Clinton actually reducing the debt, ... instead, Bush leaves Obama a rising deficit and a rising deficit budget in place for Obama to follow through.

They not only lie, they catapult lies like thin bags of rotting dung flung constantly in all directions.

8. 9/11 changed everything. 19 terrists cost us 11 trillion dollars.
can't blame gee-dubya for anything.
nobody could have predicted that something predicted in a presidential briefing would actually happen.
and given that it only cost us 11 trillion dollars, it would have been a waste of money to spend a few million dollars to try to prevent it.

so quit complaining about our god-given best preznit evah!
