Think Different
This is an interesting piece from Steve Jobs' "alma Mater" Reed College in Portland OR, one of the most liberal colleges in America, the college lots of Cons around here like to call the commie college.

Think Different.
By Chris Lydgate on October 6, 2011 1:42 PM

Visionary. Iconoclast. Rebel. There was something about him that always seemed quintessentially Reed.

Steve Jobs was formally enrolled for just six months, starting in the fall of 1972. Short of cash, he did something unconventional--dropped out but stayed on campus, living in Westport. He spent his time auditing classes--including the famous course on calligraphy from Robert Palladino <1969-84>, which would later have such profound impact on the pioneering Macintosh.

"I can assure you that as the patina of time takes its toll, I thank God I had these experiences here," he told Reed students at convocation in 1991. "It has helped me in everything I've ever done, although I wouldn't have guessed it at the time."

Then, reaching back almost 20 years, he paid tribute to a transformative act of kindness on the part of Jack Dudman, who was sitting in the audience. "When I was at the end of my rope, Jack would go for a walk with me and I would discover a $20 bill in my tattered coat pocket after that walk with no mention of it from Jack before, during, or after. And I learned more about generosity from Jack Dudman and the people here at this school than I learned anywhere else in my life."

1. Greedy, heartless, filthy rich, cash hoarding, outsourcing, confirmed asshole CEO
And proud member of the top 1% of the top 1%.

The myth of Steve Jobs is even more twisted than the myth of Ronald Reagan.

What really galls me is that everyone knows this, but the cult of Apple will simply not allow it to be.

2. Thank you for your thoughtful, considerate post
It's always a joy to read missives like yours, it brings such joy and happiness to one's heart.

From reading your post, I would assume that you are a kind, warm-hearted and generous person who's great around small children.

There is nothing wrong with criticism when it is deserved.

9. I'm not using a Mac if that's what you're getting at.
I haven't been able to afford any Apple product since 1976.

My computer is a tridim special DIY model.

12. Me either. But I am using a personal computer, which is traceable back to Steve Jobs efforts
to put a computer in each home.

14. Jobs and thousands of others.
Jobs did not invent the PC. That's another myth.

15. I know he didn't. But he promoted it. Many worked on it, and yes, it might have
happened anyways. But he promoted and worked towards this and is owed that credit. I don't like the guy's personality, have never been able to afford an apple brand computer. But he deserves credit.

13. Kennedy, Pelosi donor
From another Jobs thread here.

Jobs donated to the campaigns of Ted Kennedy, Bill Bradley and Nancy Pelosi:
$209,000 to Democratic candidates and only $1,000 to a Republican candidate.

16. Are you saying he bought off politicians?
That he was a typical corporatist?
