I Just Wanted To Say This... I Took Part OWS Sarasota, FL Which May

not have been the BIGGEST in the nation, but was REALLY, REALLY big here and we are DOING MORE! Another one on the 15th and we ACTUALLY made the newspaper!

We have youtube videos all over the place and facebook comments overflowing! Can't believe we got so much coverage and can't believe we had so many people show up! We've formed committees and we will KEEP IT GOING!

It was FANTASTIC! Our local paper said it was the LIBERAL answer to the Tea-Party, which IT WAS NOT, and calls were made to the paper telling them. THEY don't get it yet, BUT THEY WILL! I heard a woman say... I don't have a job, but now I have and occupation! And so do I. We are FIRED UP and ready to go. I've lived in this county for so many years and this is THE VERY FIRST time I've seen people mobilize like this for any function that wasn't a National election.

It was all about WE THE PEOPLE and we stood in front of Skank of America and I never got home until 9:00 PM!

I signed my name to one of the committees and we had so many other people sign for different ways to keep this going! Doing SOMETHING is helping my depression in so many ways! I just don't want it to stop! And there so many of us there who said the very same thing. I'm out to do flyers and make posters and TODAY I haven't had a minute to spare until just now! Been on the phone, been sending messages and it's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I'm with Sarasota after opting out of the Tampa one. SARASOTA is very RED and I was torn, but thought it would be best to "try" to stay local and make ours work!

We all seem to be PUMPED and so many left feeling good!

17. Yes There Were More. I'll Give You The Link, But I WAS Going To Go

to Tampa but didn't. They had about 500 attend from what some told me. Tallahassee had a very big one but don't know exact number because I've been so busy today, but heard they beat Tampa by a lot. I thought Orlando was having one because at this link http://www.occupytogether.org there were a lot of cities listed for Florida.

They had to reformat the site because so many cities were organizing all over the country. I "heard" over 800 cities participated in the U.S. but the numbers may be higher.

If you're from Florida and go to the site, put your zip code in and find out if one is close to you.

To understand how I/We feel you'd probably have had to live HERE for a while. This just doesn't happen here and I've tried to be involved here for a long time and LAME is a word I've always used. Even today there were people at Skank again. We're going to try to have bodies there every day if we can. I'm thinking I'm going again tomorrow JUST BECAUSE! We only heard about the Sarasota one EIGHT days BEFORE yesterday. We haven't even connected with New College & Ringling School of the Arts! Some younger kids from there came back from Tampa and will "go forth" to round up for us! It's really strange, but a very GOOD strange feeling.

We must not let this go away! One thing I did hear which I'm not sure how to explain is this. There were more than a few people saying they were moving ANY money they had in the market to a credit union if they could. This doesn't bode well for Wall Street if more and more people do this. I'm already with a credit union and have been for a while. But I do still have some money with Morgan Stanley (not much) and may just move it for now.

I do urge everyone to check out the website to see what's happening in your area and JOIN IN! We can do this if we really want to.

Most I didn't know and I've joined in when I've been able and saw only ONE person from the usual activist. I actually had decided to give up on all of it around here because of our turn outs. For the first time in so very long I'm actually looking forward to MORE!!!

26. GREAT!!! This Is ONE STATE That Needs To Run With This...

We've been run over by Repukes for waaaaaaaaaay too long! GO BIG-O! Activism has been DEAD around here for far too many years! The SUNSHINE STATE hasn't done any shining and it's been so depressing!

I was so JEALOUS when WI got together and NEVER thought we would get a chance. Now I see it popping up all over! Tomorrow, Manatee County will be having their rally!

We are still trying to do an EVERY DAY attendance here. Not too many people, but some will go every day because they live right close and can walk.

HAVE A GOOD ONE! I made a poster to put up in my front car window so people can see it when I go to the store or somewhere. Put it up when I park, take it down on the way home. Has the information of our next event here! Gets the word out because so many people just DIDN'T know!

It's great to feel that immense positive energy of the demonstrations isn't it?! I haven't been to one of the OWS occupations but I was very involved in the anti war marches before both Afghanistan and Iraq.

to think about it! So many of us were shocked, even if their depiction about it wasn't on target. In time we think they'll UNDERSTAND! We aren't going away! Already have a website set up for OccupySarasota and some great pictures and videos. Some really smart kids from Ringling School of the Arts and getting New College on board too!
