And while the vast majority of consumers have expressed high levels of satisfaction with the products he produced, imagine how her most ardent followers must feel today. They were misled into buying ghost-written and vainglorious books that attempted to create the illusion of leadership and character. They bought tickets to see a documentary that ignored fact and was a celluloid whitewash of her life.

Even on the day she confirmed that all of us knew, that she wouldn't be running for president, she still dropped a video asking for more donations. Amazing. But although the death of Steve Jobs coincided with Sarah Palin's announcement, it has been a helpful accident of fate, because it allows us to realize and commemorate the greatness of one individual's contribution and the other futility of the other. May he rest in peace.

It's not only sad that it's true.

It's sad that you can recognize her entire legacy, and her identity, from that subject line alone.

I don't think her situation is sad...I think she knows exactly what she's doing at any given moment of the day, and the trajectory of her "career path" has been deliberate.

The sad part is the countless people across the U.S. that thought, even for a moment, that they were something more than a "mark" to her, a source of quick cash.

His book was gone over with a fine-toothed comb by a team of lawyers. Every single word. No book he has ever written received such scrutiny.
