I don't think it's my computer -- is anybody else experiencing this, or know what's going on?
It won't let me unmute them...

1. YouTube seems fine to me |
|
Even checked a couple of OWS videos. Try rebooting your computer. Maybe your Flash plugin didn't initialize properly.

2. Don't try to unmute by clicking on the speaker symbol |

Use the slider directly. I helped my 89-year-old father with this, and that was the problem he had. It might be what you need to do, too.
Youtube remembers where you had the slider the last time you used it -- unless you delete your cookies regularly.

3. Sometimes they mute videos with copyrighted music. |
|
They sometimes give the uploader the option of choosing from their public domain fare (lovely) or muting.

In the past sometimes when I watch a video somewhere else and then go to YouTube there's no sound. I've rebooted and then everything's okay. Also check the volume slider bar on the video (earlier tonight every video on YouTube I went to the volume bar was turned way down, now everything seems to be back to normal).
Good luck.

For some weird reason, sound's usually the first thing to go on all my computers when they need rebooting.
